Verizon customers may often take a look at the new cell phones being offered on the website. Some customers may also take a look at the free phones, especially if they are considering signing up for a new contract and they do not want to spend more money for a new phone. One of the phones being offered on the Verizon Wireless website is the Pantech Jest 2. While the Pantech Jest 2 may be a free phone, many potential purchasers want to know if it is worth the money as well as what is good and bad about the phone. Here’s the 4-1-1 on the Jest 2!

The Pros

If you are someone who does not want to spend a lot of money on a new phone right now but you are looking for a device that will allow you to do all of the basics, you may want to consider the Pantech Jest 2. If you are at all familiar with the Pantech Jest, you probably noticed already that this phone looks very similar. The Jest 2 is a black phone with a red border. It is a square phone with rounded corners, which many users find appealing. What is nice about this phone is that it is a slider phone, meaning you can slide the face of the phone up and reveal a whole keyboard to use for texting. The phone offers a phone-book that allows you to save the numbers of 1000 of your closest friends. Additionally, the phone has a 320 by 320 pixel display and the phone will display 262,000 colors on the screen. You can even change the size of the font on your phone and the background to whatever you want!

The Cons

Because this is a feature phone on Verizon and is completely free to you when you sign up for a new two-year contract, you can’t really expect much. This phone is a bit slow and it does lag, which many users find annoying. Many users also feel that the screen is not nearly as bright as they would like it to be.  Other users said that they didn’t like the phone for texting because they felt that they keyboard was too small and cramped and they also did not like the fact that if you needed to dial a number that corresponded with letters, such as 1-800-Safe-Auto, the letters were not on the number buttons. Unless you knew which letter corresponded with which number, you’d have to look at another phone.

If you are looking to get a new phone because you are signing up for a new two-year contract, you may want to consider getting the Pantech Jest 2. While it does have some issues, it is great if you are not expecting a lot out of a phone or for the kids who just want to text. This phone is decent, since you are getting it for free and is worth trying out!
